Looking for a spot for your book club, study group or Tuesday-night knitting circle? Grounds Central Station has the room for it. Literally.
A few months back, the Old Town coffee shop opened its upstairs to the public for extra seating. Now they’re letting groups use the space at no cost. The only rules: come during regular business hours, and buy something while you’re there. (Twist our arm, we’ll take a latte.)
And it’s a genuinely cozy room. Think wood floors, café tables and high-tops, local art all over the walls, a big colorful mural, a stack of board games ready to go and even a record player in the corner. It’s the kind of space that makes “let’s meet for coffee” turn into a whole afternoon.
That’s a pretty sweet deal for a downtown meeting spot, and it comes with a coffee shop downstairs that’s been part of Old Town since May 2010. Grounds roasts its own coffee beans in-house, blends its own loose-leaf teas, and serves breakfast and lunch all day. There’s even an everyday happy hour from 3 to 6 p.m. with $1 off beer, wine and cocktails, in case your group meeting runs a little long.
So round up the crew, head up the stairs, and show some love to one of Old Town’s longest-running local hangouts!
