Manassas National Battlefield Park preserves the ground where two major battles of the Civil War were fought, in July 1861 and August 1862. The National Park Service runs the park, and its wide fields, wood lines and creek crossings make it one of the most rewarding places to walk in Northern Virginia.

Where to start

Begin at the Henry Hill Visitor Center, where you can get maps and orientation before heading out. A short loop from the visitor center covers the heart of the first battle.

Plan ahead

Wear good shoes, bring water, and check the park’s official site for current hours, ranger programs and any trail closures before you go.
